I wanted the seventeenth-century world to feel truthful, respectful, and alive. And grounding the story in Cuyahoga Valley National Park gave the book a sense of place that felt almost spiritual. Even as the characters leap through time, the land itself keeps the story rooted in something real and deeply human.”
