W.P. Truesdell’s The Phantom Bugatti Wins Literary Titan Gold Award and Is Added to The Bugatti Trust Museum Book Collection in England

Bloomington, IL - Author W.P. Truesdell has received the Literary Titan Gold Award for his novel The Phantom Bugatti, a genre-blending work of mystery and romance inspired by early automotive history. The novel has also been added to the collection of the Bugatti Trust Museum and Study Center in England, an internationally respected institution dedicated to preserving the legacy of Ettore Bugatti and the historic marque.

Set in the American Midwest at the turn of the millennium, The Phantom Bugatti follows Cleveland graphic designer Jack Reinhart, who inherits his grandfather’s modest Indiana farm only to discover a rare 1930s Bugatti roadster hidden beneath the barn. As Jack seeks to uncover the car’s provenance and restore it, he is drawn into a web of family secrets, betrayal, and competing loyalties that threaten both his marriage and his future.

Blending suspense, romance, and automotive lore, the novel imagines an intriguing connection between Europe’s famed auto entrepreneur Ettore Bugatti and Indiana’s legendary Auburn Automobile Company. Truesdell’s inspiration for the story grew in part from his real-world experience working on the Cleveland Museum of Art’s acclaimed exhibition Bugatti, curated by noted automotive historian Mickey Mishne.

The Literary Titan Awards recognize exceptional writing that combines originality, craftsmanship, and emotional impact. The Gold Award is the program’s highest honor, placing The Phantom Bugatti among a select group of titles recognized for literary excellence.

A former arts administrator and playwright, W.P. Truesdell has held leadership roles with major cultural institutions and served as an Illinois Shakespeare director. His first novel, For Love of Art and Ericka, was published in 2018. A forthcoming historical novel exploring the Bugatti family of artists and innovators is anticipated in 2026.

The Phantom Bugatti is available internationally in paperback and hardcover through Amazon.com, Amazon-uk.com and IngramSpark.
